Review | Shea Noir Natural Ivory Shea Butter

    Hi Everyone!

Today, I’m reviewing the Natural Ivory Shea Butter from a brand called Shea Noir.

Extracted from the nuts of the shea tree native to the North Region of Ghana, our unrefined shea butter is naturally rich in
vitamins A, E and F as well as the essential fatty acids and the nutrients necessary for smooth healthy moisturized skin and hair.

    Benefits include:
    • Helps cover the look of Acne/Blemishes
    • Helps Reduce the looks of wrinkles and aging
    • May help reduce Itchy/Peeling Skin

I put the shea butter into a jar for easier access. I’ve never used shea butter on its own before. One time I got shea butter as a sample from another brand, but the texture was very different – It was hard! This shea butter came in plastic wrap inside of a resealable bag. It has the texture of cookie dough. From the heat of your hands, it melts down making it easy to rub into your skin. I tested it out on my feet as a patch test and they felt so smooth the next day. It can feel a bit tacky and that’s not my favourite feeling since it makes your clothes stick to your skin.

shea noir natural ivory shea butter

    RATING: 4/5

I like to use it on the drier areas of my skin like my feet and elbows. In the winter, I’ll probably use it on my hands with cotton gloves at night. I’ve heard some people use it on their hair. My hair is already oily enough, so I haven’t tried it. I think shea butter is especially great to use during the colder months (which is most of the year in Canada).

    Have you tried shea butter?

    Love,

Review | Grace & Stella Dr. Pedicure Foot Exfoliating Mask

    Hi Everyone!

Today, I’ll be reviewing the Grace & Stella Dr. Pedicure Foot Exfoliating Mask. They are currently a lot cheaper on Amazon.ca than what I purchased it for in December. I think they have new packaging, so they’re probably just trying to get rid of the old stock. A few years ago, I was sent one to try. It worked so well that I decided to buy another one. You may have read my review on the Tony Moly one. If not, you can read my review).

Dr. Pedicure is an innovative foot care product that will unbelievably shed the old, dead, callused skin right off your feet. Made with the exact same 17 vegetable extracts to this day and promises to deliver the same kind of jaw-dropping results. Tired of having rough, dull feet? Reveal your feet’s youth with Dr. Pedicure.

Includes 1 pair of our Dr. Pedicure Foot Booties & 2 pieces of tape.

Regular booties fit up to size 13 US Men. Original XL fits up to size 16 US Men.

There are warnings to consult your doctor before use if you are pregnant, nursing or diabetic. Also, do not use if you have any open sores or cuts on your feet.

    Treatment

So, you put these plastic booties on for an hour. The booties have an inner lining that’s soaked in liquid/gel that contain AHAs. The instructions tell you to put the booties on and then put socks over them. Apparently the added heat will speed up the process. Once you have them on, remain seated while keeping your feet on the ground or parallel to the ground. You want the liquid to get the whole sole of your foot, so if you your feet up, the liquid will pool to your heels. I like to keep a hand towel beside me just in case.

After the hour is up, you take off the booties and wash your feet with soap and water. After you’ve washed your feet, they may look a bit pale. Not to worry, they’ll go back to your normal colour after a bit. It says the peeling will start in 6-10 days.

    Post-Treatment

After 5 days, between my toes were starting to peel and my heels looked like they were cracking. The next day, the pads of my toes and heels were peeling. It looked like I had blisters on my toes.

It was a bit uncomfortable for me once the peeling started because my feet felt really dry. I read somewhere that it’s best not to put lotion on your feet because it can interfere with the peeling process. If you absolutely must, use an oil-free moisturizer. The soles and sides of your feet will peel the most since that’s where most of the liquid is when you’re wearing the booties (gravity, duh!). The tops of my feet just look dry and flaky instead of peeling.

I like wearing socks once my feet start to peel so I’m not shedding dead skin everywhere. Ankle socks are easiest for me. Just make sure to put any socks on slowly and carefully. When I take my socks off, I do it over the garbage can as I turn them inside out to shake out the dead skin.

It’s very tempting to scrub or rub your feet (especially when you’re in the shower and your feet are wet), but don’t do it! After showering, gently pat dry. Also don’t pull off the dead skin. If it’s hanging off your foot and annoying you, carefully cut with cuticle cutters.

Hopefully by the end of this ordeal, your feet will be nice and smooth! My feet aren’t super calloused or bad to begin with, so I don’t know how well it works on someone who has really rough heels/feet.

If you decide to try a foot peeling mask, a few things to consider:

    • I think the best time to do the treatment is when it starts getting warmer (right before sandal weather) because you won’t want to wear sandals while your skin is peeling
    • The dead skin will stick to fluffy socks, so I like to wear regular ankle socks made of cotton

It's 7 days after using the Dr. Pedicure Foot Exfoliating Mask. You put these plastic booties on for an hour. Inside, they're lined with a sheet mask material soaked in liquid that contain AHAs. Google how foot peeling masks work if you want more info. After taking the booties off, you wash your feet and then it's a waiting game. After 5 days, between my toes were starting to peel and my heels looked like they were cracking. Yesterday, the pads of the toes (it looked like I had blisters) and the heels were peeling. Today, as you can see, it's peeling even more and the ball of my foot (I wish I could call it the 'Padfoot' because Harry Potter lol) has started to peel as well. You can see where the skin has peeled away on my heel looks baby smooth. If you decide to try these (can buy on Amazon), a few pointers: firstly, it warns not to use if you're pregnant or if you have a cut or open sores. It will be a bit uncomfortable for a couple days while they peel. The bottoms of your feet will peel the most because gravity, duh. I like wearing socks once they start to peel so I'm not shedding dead skin everywhere. Ankle socks are easiest for me. Just make sure to put them on slowly and carefully. Take off the socks over a garbage can. It's very tempting in the shower, but don't scrub or rub your feet. After showering, pat dry gently. Also don't peel off the dead skin. If it's hanging off your foot and annoying you, cut with cuticle cutters or something. Hopefully your feet will be super smooth at the end! My feet aren't super calloused or bad, so I don't know how well it works on someone who has rough heels. RATING: 5/5 (I've used it before so I know my feet will be super smooth after it's done peeling)

The peeling is a bit of an inconvenience and the dryness is a bit uncomfortable, but it does work (for me). If you plan to do this before a special event, I would try it in advance to see how long it takes your feet to start peeling. Then, you can do it again before your special event (maybe add a few extra days just in case).

Have you tried a foot peeling mask? If you haven’t, would you try one?

  • Youth to the People Superberry Hydrate + Glow Face Oil

Review | Youth to the People Superberry Hydrate & Glow Face Oil

    Hi Everyone!

Today, I’m reviewing the Superberry Hydrate & Glow Face Oil from Youth to the People. I purchased this during the Sephora sale last year. I tried it in September and then I had a breakout (unsure if it was from the oil, my diet or something else I was using). I stopped using it and then I started using all of these other products that I wanted to review. I’ve started using it again. Keep reading to find out what I think about the oil!

This ultra-enriched, flash-absorbing face oil packed with rare super berry antioxidants that leaves skin velvety soft, hydrated, and glowing. Intensely hydrating prickly pear and squalane oil lock in moisture with the help of omega fatty acids and high levels of vitamin C.

Maqui, the most antioxidant dense fruit in the world, is combined with açaí and goji, creating a potent antioxidant elixir. Our perfected balance of jojoba and sunflower oil illuminate and revive dehydrated skin without weighing it down.

Ingredients: Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Dicapryl Carbonate, Simmondsia Chineses (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Opuntia Tuna Extract(Prickly Pear), Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract (Acai), Lycium Barbarum (Goji) Extract, Aristotelia Chilensis (Maqui) Fruit Extract, And Moringa Oleifera Leaf Extract , Squalane Olive, Mixed Tocopherols (Vitamin E), Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil*, Linum Usitatissimum (Flaxseed) Oil*, Borago Officinalis (Borage) Oil*, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Fruit Oil*, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil*, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Oil*, Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Seed Oil*, Natural Fragrance, Amylcinnamyl Alcohol, Citral, Citronellol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxycitronellal, Limonene, Linalool.

    *Certified Organic Ingredient

Youth to the People Superberry Hydrate + Glow Face Oil 1

It comes in a glass jar with a dropper (which I will be keeping after I’ve finished using it). It’s vegan, no there’s no animal testing. It doesn’t contain dimethicone, but it does have natural fragrance. It has a scent that is familiar to me, but I can’t quite place it. I think it smells like a candy I used to eat?

    RATING: 2/5

My skin doesn’t look very glowy with this oil. I just don’t think it’s worth the high price tag. My face has been very dry from the weather and it’s not providing enough hydration for me. Maybe in the spring/summer, it would be okay for my dry skin. There are other oils that I prefer that don’t have any fragrance and are much more affordable (e.g. The Ordinary, Good Molecules).

I stopped using it again and my skin is looking better. I haven’t changed any other skincare products in my routine so I know it’s this oil that’s causing the breakouts. I know it’s a waste, but I started using it on my hands and feet to finish the rest of the bottle.

I haven’t tried much from the brand, but I did like the Superfood Air Whip Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer.

Do you love this face oil?

First Impressions with Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Oil Face Tonic

    Hi Everyone!

Today, I’ll be reviewing Australian Bodycare’s Tea Tree Face Tonic. I received this complimentary from Calissa.

Tea Tree Oil prevents and inhibits the growth of unwanted bacteria while nourishing the skin. The face tonic restores the skin’s natural moisture balance and helps prevent skin problems by deep cleansing. It contains extract of Kakadu Plum which has a high level of antioxidant properties. The natural Tea Tree Oil prevents bacteria from clinging to the skin.

Ingredients: Aqua, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Glycerin, Triethyl Citrate, Terminalia Ferdinandiana Fruit Extract, Sodium PCA, Saccharide Isomerate, Melaleuca Alternifolia Leaf Oil (0,5%), Allantoin, Lactic Acid, Tocopherol, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol, Linalool, Limonene

australian bodycare tea tree oil face tonic

    RATING: 4/5

I’ve been using the Face Tonic for a few weeks now and I’m enjoying it. It’s better than The Body Shop one because it doesn’t have alcohol or witch hazel in it (I think I’m allergic to witch hazel – read my blog post about it here). Instead of using it as a toner, I use it before my shower as a pre-cleanse because I’m not a huge fan of tea tree smell. I know I’m supposed to use it after cleansing, but it seems to be working for me. I’ve actually been using it on my face AND back because I’m unfortunately prone to bacne as well. It’s helped dry out my active breakouts on my back.

I would definitely consider trying their Tea Tree Oil Body Wash. I’ve used The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil Body Wash and that worked really well to keep my back clear.

Review | Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Pore Perfecting Cleansing Gel

    Hi Everyone!

Today, I’ll be reviewing another product I received from Calissa. An Alpha Beta Pore Perfecting Cleansing Gel by Dr. Dennis Gross. It’s my first time trying the brand.

This vegan formula contains Alpha Beta® acids which lift away dead skin cells and debris while toning and smoothing skin. Willow bark, Farnesol, and Barosma Betullina help remove impurities, wash away bacteria, and decongest pores, while Snow Ear Mushroom hydrates to maintain skin’s moisture balance. Dr. Gross hand selects each ingredient and combines it with the most efficient delivery system to ensure skin receives maximum skincare benefits from the rest of your regimen.

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate, Propanediol, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Disteareth-75 IPDI, Glycereth-7 Caprylate/Caprate, Sodium Chloride, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Mandelic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Phytic Acid, Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate, Citric Acid, Farnesol, Barosma Betulina Leaf Extract, Sodium PCA, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tremella Fuciformis (Mushroom) Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Bisabolol, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Butylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dimethyl Isosorbide, Alcohol, Sodium Phytate, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Flower/Leaf Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Flower Extract, Polyglyceryl-3 Laurate, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Sodium Hydroxide, Benzoic Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol.

I enjoy gel cleansers, so I was interested in trying this especially since it’s soap-free, sulfate free, vegan, cruelty-free.

    RATING: 3/5

It has a subtle scent that smells like aloe and a bit fruity/floral. It’s quite a thick cleanser. I have the tube and I always squeeze out too much. It’s a nice cleanser, but I will be honest and say I wouldn’t buy the full size. It’s quite expensive for a cleanser ($50 CAD for 225ml) especially when I squeeze out too much. I’d rather pay more for moisturizers, serums or eye creams.

    December 2019 Product Empties

    Hi Everyone!

Here are my last empties of the DECADE!

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil – I started using this as a facial oil because I kept forgetting about using it to prime my face. It also started to smell funny and I had to declutter it.

    Repurchase? Probably not.

Make Up For Ever Step 1 Equalizing Primer (Nourishing) – This was a nice primer that smells good, but it isn’t my favourite hydrating primer. I prefer the Smashbox Primerizer.

    Repurchase? Probably not.

Garnier SkinActive All-in-1 Cleansing Water – I don’t use waterproof makeup, so the pink micellar water works well for me.

    Repurchase? Absolutely.

Banila Co. Clean It Zero Original Cleansing Balm – This was a nice cleansing balm that removed my makeup well. I don’t use waterproof makeup, so I can’t say if it’s good for that. I didn’t love how scented it was though. I’d rather pay a bit more for an unscented one even though it’s only on my face for a short time.

    Repurchase? Probably not.

COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patches (read my review) – These were the first acne patches I tried. They will always have a special place in my heart because of that, but I’ve started to prefer the Rael patches (read my comparison post).

Repurchase? I would definitely still buy them, but as long as I can get the Rael ones, I think I’d prefer those.

L:A Bruket Hand & Body Wash in Lemongrass* – I didn’t mind the hand/body wash itself, but I’m not the biggest fan of lemongrass scent. I would prefer one of their other scents.

    Repurchase? Probably not.

Volition Beauty Strawberry-C Brightening Serum* (read my review) – Loved this serum! That’s all I have to say.

    Repurchase? YES!

Good Molecules Ultra Hydrating Facial Oil* – I enjoyed this facial oil. For extra hydration, I would mix it with my Volition serum.

    Repurchase? Yes.

  • skimono hand mask look fantastic box

    First Impressions with Skimono

    Hi Everyone!

I tried out the Skimono glove mask from the Look Fantastic US November 2019 Hygge box and really enjoyed it!

A revitalising serum enriched with shea butter, Aloe Vera & hyaluronic acid in an innovative glove mask.

    • Eradicates dryness
    • Restores softness
    • Refines skin texture
    • Brightens and evens skin tone

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Urea, Glyceryl Stearate, Butylene Glycol, Propylene Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, PEG-100 Stearate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Propanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Dimethicone, Carbomer, Arginine, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Leontopodium Alpinum Extract, Fragrance (Parfum), Allantoin, Adenosine, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hyaluronate, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate.

It was my first time trying a glove mask. My fingers were really dry after taking off my nail polish, so I thought I’d try it out to see how well it worked. They’re plastic gloves with an inner lining (that’s like a face sheet mask) soaked in serum. The most saturated parts of the glove were probably the fingers. After 20 minutes, it does kind of feel like when you’re in a bath/swimming pool too long. Any longer than 30 minutes, and my fingers would definitely feel pruny/wrinkly. Since there was an inner lining, the outer part of the glove wasn’t wet at all and I was able use my phone with the gloves on (bonus!). It definitely made my hands feel softer and not as dry. It’s been a few days and my hands still feel pretty soft and smooth. It would definitely be nice to put these glove masks on while doing a face mask, then you can just sit back and relax. I would definitely consider buying this one. It’s definitely on the pricey side, but they have a 4 pack available where you can get 4 for the price of 3.

    RATING: 5/5

On the Skimono website, they have other sheet masks for your face and they also sell foot masks. I’ve only tried a peeling foot mask, but their foot mask sounds like it would be very nice!

    Have you tried hand/foot masks?

    Love,

  • volition beauty strawberry c brightening serum

Review | Volition Beauty Strawberry-C Brightening Serum

    Hi Everyone!

Today I’m reviewing the Volition Beauty Strawberry-C Brightening Serum. I received this product complimentary, but all opinions are my own.

A brightening serum powered by strawberry-derived vitamin C for noticeable radiance, hydration, and even-toned skin.

Strawberries contain 14% more Vitamin C than an orange and they’re packed with antioxidants! Strawberry seed extract brightens skin and helps even skin tone, and vitamin C helps boost your skin’s collagen production for plumper, firmer skin.

Ingredients: Water, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Water, Glycerin, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Fragaria Ananassa (Strawberry) Seed Extract, Fragaria Vesca (Strawberry) Fruit Extract, Sea Water, Sodium Hyaluronate, Panthenol, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Terminalia Ferdinandiana Fruit Extract, Propanediol, Bentonite, Picea Abies Extract, Carbomer, Aminomethyl Propanol, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Phytate, Leuconostoc Ferment Filtrate, Citric Acid, Iron Oxides (CI 77491), Iron Oxides (CI 77499)

After using this daily for over a month, here are my thoughts. I love the texture of this serum. After applying it, my skin looks dewy and fresh. Since it’s winter, I add in a few drops of facial oil. It smells a bit more like radish than strawberries to me which isn’t a big deal because strawberries might be too sweet. The smell doesn’t linger which I love. So far I’m loving this!

    RATING: 5/5

Before receiving this from Volition Beauty, I was planning to buy it. I would definitely purchase this once I finish this bottle. I prefer it over the Celery Green Cream (read my review).

    Have you tried Volition Beauty?

  • October 2019 Product Empties

    Hi Everyone!

Perricone MD Cold Plasma+ Face Serum* (read my review) – This was a nice product, but it’s way too expensive for what you get. I used this up in about a month (used it day and night). Because it comes in a tub and it’s very fluid, I used way more than I needed to and therefore finished it quicker than a bottle of the same size.

    Repurchase? Probably not.

Pixi Vitamin-C Tonic* – I enjoyed this and my sensitive skin didn’t have any reactions to it.

Repurchase? I would definitely buy this in the future.

Heimish All Clean Balm (read my review) – I don’t know if the cleansing balm went bad or something, but it smelled very different from when I first got it. My skin was reacting to something and I don’t know if it was the cleansing balm or something else, but now I won’t know because I probably won’t repurchase it.

    Repurchase? Probably not.

Amorepacific Treatment Cleansing Foam – It was nice, but my face felt quite dry after using it. It wouldn’t become my everyday cleanser, but I might use it once a week to get a good clean.

    Repurchase? Probably not.

Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil Ultra Fine Shape & Define in 6* (read my review) – Love this!

    Repurchase? Absolutely.

Elle Derm Anti-Stress Age Perfector Rejuvenating & Brightening Cream* (read my review) – This cream had salicylic acid. I prefer having a salicylic acid in a cleanser or a serum instead of my creams.

    Repurchase? Probably not.

Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Shampoo – I’m picky when it comes to coconut scents, but this is one of my favourites. it doesn’t smell like fake coconuts or plastic.

    Repurchase? Probably.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Frxxxtion Stick 3-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser – I like this exfoliating stick. It’s gentle on the face and easy to travel with.

    Repurchase? Yes.

COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patches (read my review) – Love these. If you haven’t tried them, you should get acne patches!

    Repurchase? Absolutely!

What did you finish this month?

  • Review | Dr. Jackson’s Night Cream

    Hi Everyone!

Today, I’m reviewing Dr. Jackson’s Night Cream. A product I received from Calissa.

Overloaded with leading botanical ingredients, Dr Jackson’s 02 Night Cream is intensely moisturising in order to hydrate and soften your skin. The calming aroma will help you to gradually drift off as your skin is enriched whilst you sleep.

The replenishing combination of baobab seed oil, mango seed butter, kigelia fruit extract and frankincense tree resin in Dr Jackson’s 02 Night Cream 30ml helps to give you a rejuvenated, glowing complexion. Kigelia fruit extract helps to firm, soothe and brighten the complexion and even out skin tone. Baobab seed oil helps to improve skin firmness and strength and to diminish the look of fine lines to reveal radiant skin. Frankincense resin calms and soothes the skin and is often recommended for the treatment of blemishes. Mango seed extract helps to protect the skin against environmental aggressors.

It comes in a black opaque glass jar and comes with a little spatula. It smells a bit woodsy and also reminds me a bit of Vick’s. It’s nowhere near as strongly scented, but just has a hint of that scent. The cream itself is quite thick – a little goes a long way.

For me, I think night creams are a bit too thick to use every day. My face has a bit of a freak out if I use a cream that’s too thick. I would prefer to use a mask a couple times a week instead of using a daily night cream that’s too heavy.

    RATING: 3/5

This would be a great cream for men (especially since a lot of men’s products come in black packaging).

  • Review | Global Beauty Care Starstruck Glitter Masking Trio

    Hi Everyone!

Today, I’m reviewing the Global Beauty Care Starstruck Glitter Masking Trio that I received from the brand. It’s a set of 3 different peel-off masks and a silicone applicator.

Blue – Age Defying (Revive, Renew, Restore with Collagen and Retinol)
Silver – Illuminating (Glow, Illuminate, Radiate with Vitamin C and Grapefruit)
Pink – Pore Refining (Minimize, Smooth, Strengthen with Aloe and Witch Hazel)

I have a love/hate relationship with peel-off masks. I love peeling them off, but I hate the waiting time for them to dry and if you don’t apply a thin, even layer, it takes ages to dry and sometimes you have to wash it off. But because it’s sticky, it’s like you’re washing glue down the drain which is bad for your pipes. I do my best to apply a thin layer, but sometimes it just applies thick. For some reason, the blue mask applied a little thicker than the other two masks. I was worried I’d scratch my face and a few times I could feel the stars as I brushed it onto my face. I had to wash off some parts of the mask because it was too thick and it was taking too long to dry and I could feel the stars scratch my face as I cleaned off the remainder of the mask.

    RATING: 2/5

I think the glittery mask is fun for a slumber party, but they are unnecessary for everyday masks. I find them to be quite gimmicky. I think it’s only because GlamGlow has those vibrant-coloured masks and other skincare brands are trying to keep up with them. (I don’t know if GlamGlow was the first, but that’s the first brand that comes to mind when I think of fun, coloured masks).

What do you think about glittery masks? Cool or gimmicky?

    Love,

*This trio was sent to me.

  • First Impressions with MOR Emporium

    Hi Everyone!

Last month, I received a box from Calissa with 3 products and today, I’ll be reviewing the MOR Emporium Trio of Treasures. The trio includes: a soapette, hand cream and perfume oil. They sent over the Lychee Flower scent. It looks like Calissa doesn’t have the Trio of Treasures, but they do have the soap and candle in the lychee flower scent as well as a variety of other products from the brand.

First of all, I love the beautiful design on the products and the tin is such a cute little container.

All 3 products smell very strongly of lychee especially the perfume oil and hand cream.

    Hand Cream

Enriched with Vitamin E, Shea and Cocoa Seed butters for smooth, soft and perfectly perfumed hands.

I don’t like using scented hand creams, so I gave it to my mom to use. She tried it on and she said the cream felt very nice and moisturizing, but it was a bit too strong for her. So, she ended up giving the cream to my grandma who loves scented hand creams.

    RATING: 3/5

While it is a nice scent and the hand cream itself is nice, the scent is so strong that you wouldn’t be able to wear it in an office.

    Perfume Oil

Bountiful with Rosehip, Vitamin E, Sweet Almond Oil and flourishing with fragrance for silky-soft skin and perfectly perfumed pulse points.

The perfume oil is a rollerball and as soon as I applied some to my wrists, I could instantly smell the lychee. The product felt very nice (not too oily). After a while, it started to mix with my body chemistry and faded a bit after I washed my hands. By the end of the day, it smelled quite nice. Personally, I love fruity fragrances, but this one is a bit on the sweet side for me.

    RATING: 3.5/5

    Soapette

Housed in a collectable tin, each precious Soapette creates a decadent lather that leaves skin brilliantly refreshed.

    • Enriched with nourishing Shea Butter and Vitamin E
    • Velvety Triple-Milled soap for a smoother, creamier and more luxurious lather

I think the soapette is my favourite product. It smells like lychee, but when you walk into the bathroom, you can’t smell it. You can definitely smell it when you use it though and it’s the most subtle of the three products. I’ve been using it for a few weeks as the soap on my sink and it hasn’t softened (like some soaps I’ve tried). There’s still quite a bit left.

    RATING: 4/5

All of these products were nice, but if you have a sensitive nose like I do, you probably won’t like these. If you don’t mind stronger scents and you like lychee and sweet-smelling products, you’ll like these products.

    First Impressions with XOLuxe.com | #sponsored

    Hi Everyone!

Update: This website is no longer accessible.

This post is sponsored by XOLuxe.com, a Canadian-owned and operated company that sells a variety of different Korean Beauty sheet masks.

Our philosophy? Beautiful skin begins with great skincare. Our ultimate goal? BARE SKIN CONFIDENCE. Because we believe that beautiful skin is the secret to beauty.

I love their ultimate goal. I would love to be able to go out of the house without makeup on. My skin has been getting better lately and I’ve been wearing less makeup when I go out.

XOLUXE has sorted all of their sheets masks into categories to help you choose which one will best suit your needs. They categorize their sheet masks by skin type, skin concern and by brand. You can also buy one of their kits or subscription boxes.

Skin Type: Combination, Dry, Normal, Oily, Sensitive
Skin Solutions: Acne Fighters, Age Prevention, Dark Spots & Brightening, Exfoliation, Hydration/Moisturization, Nourishment

    Kits: Rejuvenate, Refresh, Refine, Renew

    Subscription box (5 masks): 1 Month ($25), 2 Months ($47), 3 Months, 6 Months, 1 Year

    LengthPricePrice per mask
    1 month (5 masks)$25$5/mask
    2 months (10 masks)$47$4.70/mask
    3 months (15 masks)$66$4.40/mask
    6 months (30 masks)$125$4.17/mask
    1 Year (60 masks)$240$4/mask

I think the kits or subscription boxes are great to try out new masks and save some money. Their masks have a price range of $4-6 with most masks in the $5 category.

So, let’s get onto the reviews for the two masks I received. They were beautifully packaged in tissue paper and came with a little instruction sheet

How to use sheet masks like a pro:

    1. Wash and tone your beautiful face first – a good cleanse will assure that your skin soaps up every bit of the mask’s serum. (If your pack includes essence apply it to face now)
    2. Place the sheet on your face making sure to align the perforations with your nose, eyes, and moth.
    3. Smooth the mask out to make sure there are no wrinkles for best fit.
    4. Keep mask on for 15-20 minutes, then remove and discard. Rub any remaining serum into the skin. (If your pack includes an eye mask apply it now)

    Enjoy!

I was sent two sheet masks from the Acne Fighting category. I had never tried either of the brands, but I was excited to try them. So, I’ll be reviewing the Mediheal Teatree Care Solution Essential Sheet Mask EX and Dr. Jayjun AC-Solution Clear Mask.

Mediheal Teatree Care Solution Essential Sheet Mask EX

Refresh and Rejuvenate – Tightening, Soothing, Moisturizing, Cooling

    Suitable for All Skin Types

A concentrated essence created using the natural and effective ingredients of the Tea Tree that efficiently rebuilds, repairs, and soothes irritated skin. It leaves your skin cool refreshed.

My face was a little red on the day I tried this sheet mask. I usually have redness on my nose, under the nose and on my chin. I washed my face and put on this sheet mask. The mask was nicely soaked in the serum (it wasn’t dripping wet, but it was saturated). I was walking around while I was wearing it and it didn’t slide off my face at all.

It smelled faintly of tea tree. I’ve used The Body Shop tea tree oil products which definitely have a strong tea tree scent. I couldn’t smell the mask when I was wearing it. I wore it for 15 minutes and then massaged the remaining essence onto my face. It does stay a little tacky, but it doesn’t feel greasy or oily. My face looked a little less red afterwards. I love tea tree oil products because they help dry out those painful underground pimples.

    Dr. Jayjun AC-Solution Clear Mask

    Bye, Bye Dullness!

    Moisturizing, Calming, Restoring, Toning

    Suitable for All Skin Types

Calms and moisturizes the skin aiding in blemish relief by providing a heavy dose of moisture and essence with a rich blend of 8 indigenous botanical ingredients that help treat areas of concern and a blend of 13 indigenous botanical ingredients that protect against skin barrier build up.

The sheet mask was very thick. The tea tree scent was stronger than the other mask, but it wasn’t overpowering. When I used this sheet mask, I had an angry pimple on my chin – It was red, but still underground and hadn’t reared its ugly whitehead. After removing the sheet mask, the mask felt warm because it’s so thick, it trapped the heat under it. I massaged the remaining essence onto my face. The essence from this mask felt a bit more oily than other ones I’ve tried. It stayed tacky and it also felt like I had product on my face. My chin pimple looked a little bit calmer. My chin was still a bit pink, but it didn’t look as bad.

I would definitely consider buying one of the kits that XOLuxe offers. It would be a good way to try different brands. I don’t use sheet masks that frequently, so the kits or buying them individually would be the best option for me.

    Do you love sheet masks?

Review | Perricone MD Cold Plasma+ Face Serum

    Hi Everyone!

Today, I’m reviewing the Perricone MD Cold Plasma+ Face that I received from Calissa.com.

A multi-tasking powerhouse, this advanced face serum concentrate promotes the 9 most visible signs of healthy, youthful-looking skin. Targets and dramatically improves loss of radiance, uneven texture, uneven tone, discoloration, redness, enlarged pores, fine lines, wrinkles and loss of firmness.

Apply liberally morning and evening on cleansed skin. Follow with a moisturiser.

Water/Aqua/Eau, Glycerin, Isopropyl Palmitate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Butylene Glycol, Phosphatidylcholine, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Dimethyl MEA, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3, Tyrosine, Glycolic Acid, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Magnesium Aspartate, Zinc Gluconate, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Copper Gluconate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Retinyl Palmitate, Echium Plantagineum Seed Oil, Hydrolyzed Myrtus Communis Leaf Extract, Copper Tripeptide-1, Dimethicone, Disodium EDTA, Carbomer, Ceteareth-20, Cyclopentasiloxane, Caprylyl Glycol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cyclohexasiloxane, Polysorbate 20, Zea Mays (Corn) Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Sorbic Acid

I will be honest and say that when I first smelled this from the jar, it kind of smelled like glue to me. It still smells a bit like glue, but it doesn’t linger.

I did a patch test on my arm and my arm felt super smooth after the product sank in. When I use it on my face, my face feels a bit tacky, but smooth.

This serum comes in a pot and it was a lot more fluid than I expected. From the picture on the website, it looks more creamy, but it’s actually quite runny. I also don’t love the pot because I have to use my finger to pick up product. It didn’t come with a spatula because it’s too runny. It says to ‘apply liberally’ and it’s very easy to get too much product. Since it comes in a pot, I use way more than I’m meant to because I dip my finger in and get a lot more than I need. I think this would be great in a bottle with a pump and it would be a lot easier to know how much to use.

I feel like this product isn’t targeted toward me since I’m under 30. I know it’s good to start using anti-aging products early, but this product is also quite pricey for someone in my age range. At $146 CAD for 30mL, this is a very expensive serum. Also, I started using this fairly recently (day and night) and I’m pretty sure I’ll finish the pot before the end of the year.

I will say that since I started using this, my face has been pretty clear lately. I only had a hormonal breakout on my chin.

    RATING: 3/5

    What I like:

    • No added fragrance
    • I’ve noticed that the redness around my nose and chin aren’t as noticeable

    What I don’t like:

    • The fluidity of the product + the jar (it could make a mess when traveling)
    • The price

Review | Goldfaden MD Bright Eyes

    Hi Everyone!

Today, I’m reviewing an eye cream that I was gifted by Calissa.

Calissa is a British independent, luxury beauty platform that prides itself on its edited selection of premium and niche brands.

They generously sent over the Goldfaden MD Bright Eyes.

Goldfaden MD Bright Eyes will help you fight the early signs of ageing that form around the eyes. Everything from dark circles to fine lines.

Soy Peptide and Rice Bran extract increase blood flow and hydration levels, helping to firm up the skin and reduce any swelling. Jojoba and Apricot Kernel Oil moisturises the skin to keep it soft and supple, whilst retaining elasticity. Seaweed extract promotes an even golden glow, and Organic Red Tea provides a powerful antioxidant effect to protect the skin.

Ingredients: Water, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Candelilla/Jojoba/Rice Bran Polyglyceryl-3 Esters, Glyceryl Stearate, Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Squalane, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate, Xanthan Gum, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Protein, Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Superoxide Dismutase, Chon-drus Crispus (Seaweed) Extract, Mica, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Tocopherol, Glyceryl Caprylate, Cellulose Gum, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Aspalathus Linearis (Red Tea) Leaf Extract

This eye cream is Gluten-Free, Vegetarian, Cruelty-Free, and contains no parabens, silicones or mineral oil.

One pump (or even half a pump) is more than enough for both under eyes.

I’ve had trouble in the past with my under eyes reacting to eye creams. Usually I’ll get a red spot or something. I’ve been using this for a month now and haven’t had any reactions. Yay! My under eyes feel hydrated and look brighter. Also, this eye cream doesn’t really smell like anything. Double yay!

    RATING: 5/5

I love that it comes in a pump so that I don’t have to stick my finger into a pot or need a spatula.
